Onion River Sports presents the “Muddy Onion” Spring Classic

muddy onion ridersOn April 29th, Onion River Sports, located in beautiful Montpelier, Vermont, will host the 5th annual Muddy Onion Spring Classic. This is a 34 mile ride through some of the most scenic gravel roads in Vermont. Tristan von Duntz, who recently spoke about outdoor photography on the Intrepid Northeast Podcast is the event organizer and states that they expect approximately 600 riders this year, which will make for some great camaraderie amongst cyclists, an energetic ride and an awesome after-party that includes a post race meal and beverages. The event is co-sponsored by The Alchemist brewing company, makers of the now legendary Heady Topper IPA, so maybe…just maybe…you might be able to grab a taste of what everyone is fussing over.

For those that can’t commit to the full 34 mile ride, Onion River is offering up the Hibernator Short Loop. This 19.4 mile loop will let you pedal at a more leisurely pace and still not miss the party.

chocolate covered baconTristan claims a “healthy dose of climbing” along the route that will get your heart pumping and the legs burning. No need to bring Gatorade gummies or GU packs. They have shots of 100% pure Vermont maple syrup along the way to keep the blood sugars running high and chocolate covered bacon just because it’s awesome. This event sounds like a blast. I mean, chocolate bacon…what’s not to like.

Cost: $45 if you pre-register through http://bikereg.com. You may also register the morning of the ride for $60. For full details on the Muddy Onion, visit http://www.onionriver.com
